Wealden knew this was going to be a tough game against a very strong Telstars squad. We lost a player for this match making the task even harder. Knowing the girls faced an uphill struggle Phil set small goals at the start of each quarter to motivate the team.
Telstars closed the game down well zoning across the court, intercepting many of the Wealden passes to turn the ball over in the centre court. By half time Telstars already had a comprehensive lead.
At half time Phil told the girls to try using long balls into our attacking third. This tactic worked and some excellent strong passing from Paige (WA) and Emma(C) into and around our attacking circle enabled the the shooters to gain more possession in the second half and add more goals to the score sheet.
The team did not let their heads go down and despite the score played some great netball – with only 6 players they scored more goals against Telstars than any other team so far this season.
