29th October 2011 Wealden 1 v Michenden Final Score: 53 v 42

Arriving at Michenden two hours before the game could have allowed Wealden to lose focus and become complacent in their warm up. However this was not the case!
Overall the game was hard work, the score was fairly even after the first quarter, but slowly Wealden started to pull away. We had a few changes to the team this week as we had a few of our first team players away with other commitments, so Lucy Hopkins and Lauren Pedelty joined us and were both key to our success. Well done and thanks to you both!

If I had to pull out some key players, then I would say a very well done to Gemma Bailey who played out of position at WA and did a fantastic job at keeping control of the game in attack, to Phil Webb whose fitness levels did not falter through out the whole game at C and was available throughout the court, and for Hannah’s accuracy of her shot especially in the last quarter when it was vital.

However one of the defining moments of the game was Claire’s interception in the last quarter where she battled against the GS to catch the ball and then launched a determined bullet pass to Phil, which nearly sent Phil flying. The intensity of the pass showed how much Wealden wanted this win, and definitely took Phil by surprise!!!! So I am pleased to say we beat Michenden, 53 – 42! A fantastic team performance again!! Well done girls!!!
