Nearly 4/4 but will have to settle for 3 wins from 4.
Wealden 1 started the day off with a convincing 61-26 win against Sabina. Wealden 2 then took on Swanley 1, with a loss in the first round of fixtures the team were keen to reverse that result, and they achieved that with style, 40-30 win. Wealden 4, took on Swanley 2, with 6 potential shooters and no circle defence the challenge was set. But no need to worry as everyone settled into the game of versatility, taking the win 59-35. Wealden 3 rounded the day off unfortunately with a one-goal loss against Eclipse Cobalt 38-36. Congratulations to all our POM this week: Wealden 1 Coaches & Oppositions POM: Laura Hanson Wealden 2 Coaches POM: Chelsea Shaw Oppositions POM: Justine Mcavoy Wealden 3 POM: Julia McCarthy Wealden 4 Coaches POM: Alice Elmer Opposition POM: Lexie B The County squad took on Macklins in the penultimate round of the Kent County Senior League. With a win in the first round against this team, they wanted to build on that this round. The squad built a lead in each quarter, ending with a win 52-39. Congrats to Cara Singleterry for getting coaches POM for a huge amount of intercepts and forcing pressure on their shooters, and opposition POM Chelsea Shaw for an impressive shooting masterclass and dictating the attacking circle. Great performance, and secured our place in the county league for next season, another one of the season’s goals achieved. Thanks to all the travelling supporters, coaches, scorers, umpires, and our sponsor Simon Jones Superfreight Ltd. Wealden Regional Squad took on Alpha in Div 3 of the regional league today. In the first round the team lost by 12, and Alpha are currently 2nd in the league, so we knew it was going to be a tough day out. We started strong, leading at the end of Q1, however, they were one down going into ½ time. Changes were made throughout the game, with each player going on doing as they were asked. Working hard on reducing the error count and increasing the shooting stats, which was achieved, with our shooters at 88% and 87%. Unfortunately, the team was not able to regain the lead and lost by 2, 46-48. A much-improved performance in the first round, and a match to be proud of. Congratulations to CPOM and OPOM Paula Costa. Thanks to the bench, scorers and supporters. 2 games to go and secure our spot in regional next season, goal achieved.
Starting off with a great first win for Wealden Emerald at Sevenoaks Junior Netball League. An even game fought right to the end. One amazing interception by the WD turned the ball over and allowed the team to score, with a final of 34-32.
Then over to NWK where Wealden 1 started the day at 09:00 with a 42-31 win against Vibrant. Started strong with a number of converted turnovers. The team pushed the lead out throughout the rest of the game, making seamless substitutions throughout. Excellent space creation and shooting from our shooters and intercepts and rebounds from the defence. Wealden 2 then took on Tonbridge 1, they had a string first quarter followed by a disappointing Q2. Not disheartened by this they pushed on in the second half to take the win 56-54. Excellent ball control and placement throughout and a superb debut defensive performance for Alice, being pulled up from the U18’s. Wealden 3 had a comfortable win against Chslehurst 1, 52-33, with a dominant attacking performance and finally Wealden 4 rounded off the day with a top-of-the-table clash. Taking the win 46-36. If you are interested in developing your coaching skills with a fabulous netball club, with paid roles available, then please contact Tracey to get more details. It was the first game of the second half of the league for W4 and what a strong start with a 16-4 lead in Q1. The opposition swapped a few players to shoot, matched us 8-8 in Q2, and beat us 10-9 in Q3. Time to dig in and build on the 11-goal lead in the final quarter. They got out there and won Q4 12-1 giving a final score 45-23 taking a point away from the opposition.
It was a tough day at the office for the U18 County squad against a strong Beacons team. The team dug deep and never gave up but unfortunately could get the win this time. Well done to Immy for getting opposition POM. Final score Wealden 32 – Beacon 57. The Regional squad also took on Tiffin once again for the London & South East Regional league. They knew this was going to be a tough game with Tiffin being a very experienced and athletic team. Although they fought hard Wealden could not hold on with the final score 53-40 to Tiffin.
