Tough first match for new Regional squad
The first Regional fixture against former Premier 3 club Comets was always going to be tough. Captain Sam Pembroke ran with the same starting seven as last week and Wealden started off well only training by 4 goals after 15 minutes.

With no changes at quarter time Wealden made some unforced errors allowing the home team to take the score to a 12 goal lead. Rachael Jarman came on at WD and Lucy Hopkins took a well earned break from Centre with Rebecca Webb and Lauren Pedelty taking the shooting positions.
Wealden started the second half strongly with a quick succession of goals, some positive movement in the attack and a very tight defence, Claire Westerbeek at GK and Jarman making some fantastic interceptions backed up well by Lauren Simpson, allowing Wealden to win the quarter 9-6. However Comets fought back in the final quarter and, with some feisty defensive tactics managed to draw away once again.
The final score was a respectable 27-40.
