Another solid performance from the U16 squad at NWK against Daggers.
Special thanks to Alice, Ella and Josie for taking the plunge and playing GK - you all did brilliantly! An amazing effort by all. Quarter scores: 19-2 30-8 47-13 58-19 Opposition POM: Layla Wealden County Squad took on Falcons Netball Club in Division 2 of the Kent County Netball League. It was very tight throughout, and despite having the lead going into the final quarter, Falcons came back at us. Final score 53-53. Congrats to our Coaches POM Justine McAvoy and the Opposition’s POM Georgia Menhinick.
Starting off with Wealden Emerald at Sevenoaks Junior League. With only five players available two girls from Sage played up and did so well. A massive thank you to both of them but in particular to one player who also played her own Sage game earlier in the day. Wealden Pear showed resilience against KCNC. With just five players managed to keep the score to a very respectable 15-5 to KCNC. Everyone produced their best and had some amazing netball on court.
Onto a great win by W5 with a new combination. 51-17 against Hurricanes. Some good netball and fab shooting. Opposition’s POM Millie T and Coaches POM George. Keeping them top of the league. Wealden’s regional squad took on AP Saints in the London & South East Regional Netball League. Having lost by 32 goals in the first match they knew it was going to be tough, but they had a plan and we stuck to it! Winning the first quarter 12-9. But lost the second, and were down by 5 going into the half time break. A few changes, and a real desire not to let the opposition run away with it, saw Q3 10-11. W4 was intense, with the opposition making lots of mid quarter changes, Wealden won the last Q 12-7, which just wasn’t quite enough to take the draw or the win. But absolutely a performance to be proud of!! Congrats to our Coaches POM Sammy King and Ellie Poland, and the Opposition POM Tiffany Haughton. Thanks to our supporters, special mention to Jackie Gerety for scoring, coaches, umpires, our sponsor Simon Jones Superfreight Ltd and to Kent Netball. Final score 41-42 to AP Saints. 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss.
Wealden 4 started the day with a 36-30 win v OBA 2. Taking full advantage of the opposition’s lack of desire to warm up W4 stomped Q1 with a 12-3 lead. That woke the other team up and they did come back hard but the team kept their cool and finished taking the win. Wealden 3 didn’t have their best day out, they finished strong in the final quarter, but couldn’t quite draw it back, taking the loss 25-29. Wealden 2 then put out a really solid performance against Eclipse 3, with some excellent turnovers from the back coupled with some excellent shootings. Saw us take the win 52-34. Wealden 1 finished the day with a draw 36 all, against Eclipse. We had a really strong 55 minutes, however, too many errors in the last stages of the game saw Eclipse make a strong comeback. Congratulations to all our POM this week: Wealden 1 Coaches POM: Tiffany Haughton Opposition’s POM: Ellie Poland Wealden 2 Coaches POM: Cara Singleterry Opposition’s POM: Chelsea Shaw Wealden 3 Opposition’s POM: Gracie Kohler Wealden 4 POM: Imogen M The U18s County Squad took on Kent County Netball Club in the U18s Kent County Netball League. It was a close game with there only being a few goals in it all the way through. Unfortunately, KCNC took the win this time by only one goal. The girls kept everyone on their toes. The final score 39-38 to KCNC.
Wealden’s regional squad took on Actonians Netball Club in the London & South East Regional Netball League. With a shaky start, they went 2 down at the end of the first quarter. A change at GS/GA saw Ellie Poland enter the game, and put in a stunning performance earning her both coaches and opposition POM. For the rest of the game, the attack was dynamic and sharp, coupled with excellent defensive pressure throughout the court saw the squad take the win 53-43. Thanks to our supporters, bench, scorers, and the opposition for a great game. Thanks also to our sponsor Simon Jones Superfreight Ltd and to Kent Netball for their continued support.
Wealden County squad took on Comets in the first game after the Christmas break in the Kent County Netball League Division 2. They knew it was going to be a tough game as Comets haven’t lost yet. Wealden started strongly winning the first quarter 12-8, however, Comets defensive pressure forced us into making errors. The team fought hard for the next 45 minutes however their experience at this level showed, and Comets took the win 52-43. Excellent shooting and movement from the coaches POM Chelsea Shaw, with great decision making and feeds from the OPOM Georgia Menhinick, extra mention to Justine McAvoy for showing off her attacking and defending skills for the whole game. Disappointing to get the loss, however, the squad showed that they mean business in this league!
What a way to go into the Christmas break, with four out of four wins at NWK today!! Wealden 3 kicked us off with a 10 goal win 39-29 v Istead 1. Wealden 2 then took on OBA 1 with a solid win 59-42.Wealden 1 then beat Kent Club 2 58-34. Wealden 4 rounded off the perfect day with a 20 goal win 45-25 against Chislehurst 3 with straight line balls to goal and a great connection from defence to attack. Great performances all round, and great to get the 4 from 4. A coach’s perfect Christmas present, so thanks ladies! Congratulations to all our POM this week: Wealden 1 Coaches POM: Yasmin Absolon Opposition’s POM: Jessica Berry Wealden 2 Coaches POM: Georgia Menhinick Opposition’s POM: Marianne Watts Wealden 3 Opposition’s POM: Carly Shaw Wealden 4 Coaches POM: Imogen M Opposition’s POM: Issy Thompson Here is where the seniors are currently sitting in their leagues:
