In Memory of Val Bennett

Picture
Our Dear Val Bennett tragically passed away after suffering a massive stroke on 27th August 2015.  Val had played for Wealden for over 10 years and was a very valued member of the club.  She was always ready to help and was a big part of the Junior Coaching Team and Selectors.

Val started off in the competitive teams, as we all do, and then as time passed she relegated herself into the Social team so that she could simply enjoy a good game with the rest of the Mums and 'older' players who didn't have the commitment level required of the top two teams.

We had such a laugh playing up at NWK, Vets League and going away on tour with Val.  Lots and lots of memories to hold on to.  She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

RIP Val Bennett - 7th December 1967 - 27th August 2015

In her memory her husband John and daughter Zara, have donated a Trophy to Wealden which will be cherished by everyone at the club.

Wealden 3 (Val's team) played their first NWK league match on 12th September where we observed a Minute's Silence and wore stickers in her memory.  These stickers have now been made into cloth badges which all players are invited to sew on to their dresses.
